The Skin Fair is Hiding Redzone

The 2011 Skin Fair is hiding Redzone.

This infuriates me.  They have a script counter right at the landing point that will boot you if you're wearing more than 50 scripts.  They ask everyone to remove all prims and AO's to cut down on lag.  God forbid you don't waddle around bald, you're sure to be berated by someone for "contributing to the sim lag".

And yet, they use Redzone there??  A major lag monster?  And even go so far as to hide it??

According to the land settings, the sim is owned by the group Vanity Universe.  The group owner is Carl Crabe.

It's pretty bad when we can't go to the Skin Fair without the lagtastic Redzone hypocritically hidden there.  Needless to say, I'm boycotting it and hoping others do, too.

Redzone ist KAPUT! (seriously funny!)

Made by the always amusing and amazing Itazura Radio, this spoof on Redzone made me laugh so hard I drooled my cappuccino.  So hysterical yet so true, it's the best kind of sarcastic comedy there is :)

(no seriously, put your drink down before watching this lol)

Hiding Redzone? Sweetheart's Jazz Club is!

I highly suspected some places were flat out lying about their use of Redzone and had found a way to hide it.  After some testing with Rivan, my suspicions grew even higher.  Last night I downloaded the Cool Viewer with extra media security, and my suspicions were proven true.

The perfect example- Sweethearts Jazz Club, owned by the arrogant and deceitful Dilbert Dilweg.  He swore up and down all the forums he didn't use Redzone, and even had the nerve to accuse me of lying that he had used Redzone.  Here's some of the highlights:

Dilbert: "Where is it on my land? can you produce material proof? Or just a he said she said BS?

Of course you dont know what I am talking about . Nor do you have proof of what you are talking about."

Dilbert: "Again I am not using Redzone lmao.. yall working up accusations because 1 person says so?
So lets go back to this post about Redgrave at the beginning. So according to you then all these places listed by the OP are accesories vbecause they used it for a long time? Sweet. you just discredited this post.
And again I am not using Redzone lol"

Oh really, Dilbert?  You're not using Redzone?  You're a liar, just like I said all along.

And there it is, the Redzone isellsl.ath.cx trying to access my computer, while standing on the landing spot of Sweetheart's Jazz.

The moral of this story?  That some deceitful business owners have found a way to hide their Redzone, so we must be more careful than ever.
... oh and that I advise everyone to spread the word and boycott Sweetheart's Jazz as well as other establishments owned by Dilbert Dilweg. I don't think anyone wants to do business with a liar.

UPDATE:  It seems Dilbert doesn't enjoy my blog:

[12:40]  Dilbert Dilweg: I take this as harassment and will file
[12:40]  Dilbert Dilweg: piss off
[12:40]  Theia Magic smiles and waves ...I have no idea what you speak of, I did nothing inside of second life or on their forums :D
[12:41]  Dilbert Dilweg: it was put u[p 2 days ago dip shit
[12:41]  Dilbert Dilweg: now fuck your self in the ass and do not harass me
[12:41]  Theia Magic: awww now I can legitimately AR you for harassing and name calling.  :D
[12:41]  Dilbert Dilweg: I have told the world i use it
[12:41]  Dilbert Dilweg: fuck you
[12:42]  Theia Magic: Not even with a dog's dick and someone else pushing, have a nice day!
[12:42]  Dilbert Dilweg: yuou bully fuicks will see  in the end
[12:42]  Dilbert Dilweg: do not message me again
[12:42]  Theia Magic: mmhmmm enjoy your day!  buh bye little boy!

More important info on Redzone

First, let me clear something up.  While Redzone (and others like it) can no longer reveal alts without consent, they can still collect your IP address into their database without consent.  This means you still need to take precautions by disabling your media.  We won a major battle against an invasion of our privacy, however we still have to continue our fight until we've won the war.

Today on the Jira, Soft Linden made some very important comments: (bolded text done so by me)

"If you find someone whose alts were listed based on someone else giving consent, I'd urge them to file an AR. If that is happening, I think support should know. On the future plans thing, there are a few proposals in JIRA. I'd put watches on those if you want to show interest in viewer enhancements."

"The ARs that got some products taken down (off the marketplace) were based on disclosing alts without consent. If you can demonstrate that anyone but the single database owner has access to alt lists without appropriate, explicit consent, please file an AR for that. I wish I were qualified to interpret or comment on the other specific ToS sections, but I know I'd get a swat if I tried publicly. Filing ARs may help here, and I'll gladly continue helping peers understand what you're saying."

"Thanks for all the feedback, everybody. I wanted to give an update since a lot of you have been asking.

Many of you have already noticed that the Disclosure section of the Community Standards page was updated. That was done to more explicitly state that alts are protected from disclosure.  We also removed some items from the Marketplace for violations of the Terms of Service and Community Standards, and we notified the merchants that they needed to fix the violations before they could re-list these items. This is the support team's normal practice for handling reports that a listing violates the Terms of Service or Community Standards.

Once re-listed, support still needs your ongoing help to spot potential violations, as products can change from day to day.

If you find that any merchant's product is not in compliance, or that it's been re-listed or recirculated in-world without being made compliant, please file an abuse report about the product, even if you filed against a previous version. Include a specific explanation of what you believe is a violation, and ideally select and report the object at issue in case it behaves differently than what's in the Marketplace.  Before reporting, make sure you have first-hand knowledge of the issue. Support can best react if you explain specific steps to reproduce or confirm a violation."

The short version is this and very important- Redzone can not reveal alts without consent of all the linked avatars to be revealed.  For example:  Say Suzy gives consent for her alts to be revealed, the database spits out the names of Darla, Fred, and Sam.  Even though Suzy gave consent, they still can't reveal Darla, Fred, and Sam's link to Suzy without their consent as well.  In this case, Redzone would need the consent of all four avatars in question.

This means anytime alts are revealed without the explicit consent of every avatar named, the person doing the scan, zFire, and Redzone itself should be AR'd.

Soft then went onto say if a product on the Marketplace violates the Community Standards change, it should also be reported.

Soft Linden's comments today prove that Linden Lab is watching the situation, and Redzone, very closely.  It's now up to the rest of us to AR the stupid out of Redzone, it's users, and zFire whenever they break the rules.

she jumped onto the anti redzone bandwagon in order to promote "her" and "her" friends shops which are protected by a rival system
which does more or less what redzone does"

Isn't it so cute when little boys get their underoos in a twist because a woman has bigger balls than they do?

I love the smell of desperation in the morning.  Reading their forum was the perfect chuckle I needed to go along with my morning coffee.

This crazy Second Life I lead

The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of chaos.  This blog went from like 30 views to over 3000 in a matter of 10 days.  My time online seems to be dedicated to dealing with Redzone stuff lately.  Hell I've even become one those pretentious sounding "my IM's get capped" people.  Thank God my offline IM's go to my email, I'd have to shoot myself if I actually had to put a blurb about capped IM's and notecards on my profile.

So...yeah.  I log into offlines about everything from people wanting information on Redzone or Greenzone, people leaving me lists of locations to check out for my lists, and even threats from Redzone asshats via alts.  I know right?  How funny!  I find it comical as hell that the people so busy busting everyone else's alts, use alts to bash me.  My response to these idiots is always the same: Get your balls out of your mom's purse, strap those bad boys back on, man up, and face me on your main avatar.  Otherwise, I have no use for anyone so spineless they feel the need to hide behind a throw-away alt.  I'll go head to head with just about anyone who wants to debate me- unless they're so cowardly they have to hide behind an alt to do it.

There is a silver lining in all this recent turmoil in my Second Life.  In my travels around the grid in search of Green locations, talking on the forums, and even chat in the Greenzone Group in-world, I have met some really cool people.  It always does my heart good when in the middle of a veritable crisis, some truly awesome people emerge to be the light at the end of a dark tunnel.  It's these people that make being in Second Life not only worthwhile, but also give me the desire to keep fighting so hard for what I believe to be ethically right.  So to all those people who've offered me everything from information to a kind word of encouragement- thank you. :)

Redzone/Greenzone have their own tab

Ok, for the sake if simplicity, I've moved all Redzone/Greenzone matters to their own page.  This way I'm still free to ramble aimlessly about other stuff here, without burying the important stuff.  So, look at the tab to the right of this one, and you'll see all the info you need there :)
